Description

Anthurium regale cf.

Anthurium regale cf.

Surname: Anthurium regale cf., Linden 1866
Synonyms: not known
etymology: regalis = royal, magnificent
Reproduction: Division
Origin: Peru
Location: Anthurium regale was found by Gustave Wallis in Peru on the banks of the Marañón, one of the two major headwaters of the Amazon.
Remarks: The epithet regale (belonging to a king) is undoubtedly justified for this species. The velvety leaves with the wonderful pattern need no further description, the foliage speaks for itself. There are numerous, wonderfully rarities of this species, so it is difficult to choose, the best thing is to collect them all.
Anthurium regale cf. differs from the nominal form in that it has much finer veins and slightly smaller leaves, but its growth form is identical. The suffix cf. stands for confer (compare) because this species is very similar to Anthurium regale, but also has enough differences that it is very likely a new species.
