etymology:
delinksii = The species is named in honor of Thomas Delinks, an American botanist who researched and collected in Ecuador for several years, beginning in the Amazon basin with a three-month stay at the Jatun Sacha field station and later in a two-year project with Nigel Pitman in the Yasuní National Park. He researched the Cordillera del Cóndor with David Neill and in 1998 with Tom Croat he began collecting Araceae in the coastal mountains of Manabí Province, particularly in the southern Mache-Chindul Mountains, where with the help of the Ecuadorian botanist Carlos Robles, he collected some of the first specimens of Philodendron delinksii.

hemiepiphytic, climbing in dense forests of the tropical humid rainforest in the Pacific Andes in partially shaded areas at altitudes of 450 – 650 m.
Remarks:
Philodendron delinksii was offered and sold for some time as Philodendron erubescens Ecuagenera. However, it has since been shown that the valid species name is Philodendron delinksii.
