Epiphytic on mossy trees in the cloud forest of the Andes at altitudes of around 1600m.
Remarks:
The flower size of Dracula venefica is about 8 x 15cm, making the species one of the large-flowered Draculas. The flower stalks grow horizontally or upright and can bear 2-3 flowers that open one after the other.
