Location:
In the border area between Peru and Ecuador, epiphytic on mossy trees in the cloud forest on the western slopes of the Andes in cloud forests at altitudes of 1000 to 2000 meters
Remarks:
With flowers measuring only 5 x 15 cm, Dracula simia is one of the larger-flowered species, with horizontal to hanging inflorescence stalks up to 15 cm long bearing 2-3 terminal flowers that open one after the other.
The flower of this species has the greatest resemblance to a monkey face due to its red-violet flowers with a light, almost white heart.
