etymology:
benedictii = Benedict Roezl, 1823 - 1884, was an Austrian-Bohemian botanist and orchid collector. He produced over 100,000 herbarium specimens and introduced almost 800 new orchid species into cultivation.

epiphytic on wet, mossy trees in the Central Andes in the cloud forest at altitudes of 1700 to 2300 m.
Remarks:
Dracula benedictii has relatively small flowers of just under 8cm, the inflorescence stalks arise laterally or hanging, 2-3 flowers per inflorescence are normal on average.
