etymology: esmeraldense:= emerald green, emerald colored
esmeraldense = Esmeraldas, river and province in northern Ecuador
Reproduction: Division
Origin: Ecuador, Colombia
Location: epiphtylic and terrestrial, in semi-shaded places, no information on altitude can be found.
Remarks: Spadix white to purple, 1-1.5cm diameter, up to 30cm long. The leaves mature slowly, but then become leathery with a velvety surface.
