etymology: eminens = enormous, because of the size of the plant
Reproduction: Division
Origin: Bolivia, Northern Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela
Location:
partial shade to shade, in warm, slightly moist locations in northern South America, both in the Andes and along the Amazon, at altitudes from sea level to 1600m.
Remarks:
Spadix can be purple, brown, green or cream; berries purple. As the plants get older, more leaves appear at the petiole end.
