Location:
Hemiepiphytic in tropical lowland and mountain forests in moist forests on both sides of the Andes and the Amazon basin in semi-shaded locations on sandy soil at altitudes of 200-1400m
Remarks:
Philodendron asperatum is widespread in northern South America from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast, and can also be found in the Caribbean. Even though the main occurrence is above 200m, locations at sea level are not uncommon: this species is very adaptable and vigorous.
