etymology:
tubeana = tubular, In this case the species was named in honor of the head gardener of Hofrath Keil, Mr. M. Tube. Keil was the proud owner of Keil's Garden, a large botanical collection of garden and tropical plants near Dresden.

In the cloud forest of the Andes of Ecuador. Epiphytic on mossy trees at 2000 - 2400m altitude.
Remarks:
Dracula tubeana can produce flowers measuring 12 x 20 cm, and is one of the large-flowering species in the Dracula genus. The flower stalks mostly grow horizontally, can hang slightly or stand upright, and bear 2-3 terminal flowers that bloom one after the other.
