etymology:
tricolor = three-colored
Propagation: from seeds, division
Origin: Costa Rica, Panama
Location:
epi- and lithophytic at altitudes of 600 to 1000 meters in rainforests with high humidity
Remarks:
Lycaste tricolor is very variable in color. The nominal form has reddish-brown sepals, the petals are pink with white. But white-green flowers are also not uncommon. Lycaste tricolor has many flowers, is fragrant, and the flowers are up to 9cm in size.
