Description

Anthurium pandurilaminum

Anthurium pandurilaminum

Surname: Anthurium pandurilaminum, Croatia 2019
Synonyms: Anthurium bullatus hort.
etymology: panduri = lute-shaped
laminus = scales, plates, shield
Reproduction: Division
Origin: Ecuador
Location: hemiepiphytic in the warm, humid tropical forest at low altitudes in the Pacific Andes.
Remarks: Anthurium pandurilaminum with its arrowhead-shaped leaves was found by Croat, Mansell, Hannon & Owen in a swamp in Ecuador at the end of the 20th century (pers. comm. Tom Croat: Swampy Area), but was not described until many years later.
The species impresses with its elongated, clearly veined leaves, which "open" light green with a very delicate structure; with age they then become noticeably harder and dark green.
