Description

Anthurium forgetii 'White Stripes'

Anthurium forgetii 'White Stripes'

Surname: Anthurium forgetii 'White Stripes', NE Brown 1906
Synonyms: not known
etymology: forgeti = Louis Forget, one of the most successful orchid collectors with MIcholitz for the company SANDER & Co.
Reproduction: Division
Origin: Colombia
Location: terrestrial in the warm, humid rainforest at around 1100m. No exact information available.
Remarks: Although Louis Forget primarily searched for and collected orchids, he was still interested in other attractive foliage plants and managed to send them to England in a viable condition. Anthurium forgetii was such an attractive foliage plant that Nicholas Edward Brown (* 11 July 1849 in Redhill, Surrey; † 25 November 1934 in Kew, London), whose specialty was actually succulent plants, described it in 1905 and named it in honour of the discoverer.
Anthurium forgetii differs from other multicolored anthuriums by the closed, round shape of its leaves.
