Etymologie: Holbrook Gaskell (5. März 1813 – 8. März 1909), Britischer Industrieller, Sammler von Kunst und Pflanzen.
Vermehrung: aus Samen
Herkunft: Venezuela, Kolumbien
Standort: Cattleya gaskelliana wächst epiphytisch and exponierten Stellen hoch in Bäumen in H öhenlagen von 700 - 1000m.
Anmerkungen: Die stark duftende Cattleya gaskelliana wurde 1883 durch Sander eingeführt, wegen ihrer Blütengröße und Haltbarkeit auch als Schnittblume wurde sie sehr schnell populär.
